Oatmeal Molasses Bread recipe
This is a yeast bread recipe. I substituted thick oats for the quick oats and used half whole wheat flour instead of all white, and it came out nice and heavy and moist with a delicious crumbly crust. It's not too sweet, but it does taste like molasses.

County Fair 2007
Oops, looks like I forgot to post this! The last weekend in August, I drove home and Mama, Daddy, Anderson and I took Allie and Layla to the fair. (It was their second time that week.) I really love the county fair.
On the right is Allie with her red ribbon-winning apple art.
Vegetables, canning, and crochet projects.
The squashes were the best-looking category among the garden veggies.

Last Saturday, the weather was so nice, I took my students' papers to Boyle Park so I could grade them in the big outdoors. The creek floods when there's a lot of rain, so this area of the park is allowed to go kind of wild, which is perfect to me.

Two stuffed animals I've encountered lately:
Tigger in the heap of rubbish from some apartments that burned this month; a rabbit I knitted and stuffed.
Yesterday was the Fall Equinox. I went out to Toltec Mounds State Park, which is only about a thirty minute drive. There are about 18 Indian mounds there built by the Plum Bayou People between 600 and 1000 A.D. and they think they were used for ceremonial and calandering purposes. On equinoxes and solstices different mounds line up with the sun, which is pretty cool.
